Multi-day rail tours and luxury trains compared
Across 31 multi-day rail tours and luxury trains, from the operators' own pages on 19 October 2026, the price for one person runs from about US$149 a night (Highlights of Japan, Japan Experience)[1] to about US$5,029 a night (Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, Paris to Venice)[2]. Self-guided rail packages in Switzerland, Norway and Japan cost a fraction of the luxury trains, which include meals, drinks and excursions.
Each price is the lowest "from" price the operator showed, for one person sharing unless stated; prices for a cabin of two are halved for the night figure. The night figure is the from price divided by the nights, converted to US dollars at the European Central Bank's reference rate for comparison only. Dates and what is included differ: open each operator's page before you compare.
