About Sendero Guide
Sendero Guide answers the questions before a train trip with sums and dated official prices: whether a rail pass pays for your own route, what a scenic train costs with its seat reservation, when seats go on sale, and where to stay at each end of the line.

How we check the prices
Every fare and pass price comes from the railway or the pass issuer: the JR companies and the official Japan Rail Pass site, SBB and the Swiss Travel System, the Rhaetian Railway, the Glacier Express, the night train operators, and each tour or train operator for its own journeys. We do not copy prices from other guides, forums or reviews. Each price is cited with a link to its source and the date it was read.
Single fares are read in the railway's own fare search for a set day, and the pages say which. The calculators add those fares for the trips you enter and compare them with each pass; they count only what the railway states, and name anything they cannot count.
Hotel prices are the lowest standard room on the hotel's own website for one night about five months ahead, one room and two people: now 16 March 2027. If that night shows no price, we read the nearest night within 18 days and the table shows that date. We never get past a bot check, enter personal details or book.
Prices in other currencies are approximate, converted at the European Central Bank's reference rate on the date shown. You pay in the railway's own currency.
A script checks every price page each week and we re-read the pages that changed; every page is checked in full once a month, and the hotel night moves forward each month. A seller is left out if its own website sends visitors to a different company's site or shows a security warning.
How the site is paid for
Sendero Guide never sells tickets or takes bookings. The railways' own sites are always listed first. No link on the site earns a commission today; if that changes, each page will name the affiliate links beside them. No railway, hotel or seller pays to be listed, and commissions never change the prices or the order of a table. The site carries no general advertising.
Corrections
Railways, hotels and readers can send corrections with a link to the operator's own page to [email protected]. We change the page after checking that source.
