Night trains in Europe compared
On 16 March 2027 a couchette berth costs from €49.90 one way (ÖBB Nightjet, Vienna to Venice)[1] and a sleeper cabin for one from €119.90 (Vienna to Venice)[1], on the operators' own booking sites. The Caledonian Sleeper from London to Edinburgh is £54 for a seat and £210 for a room[2]. Checked on 19 October 2026.

ÖBB Nightjet
Nightjet trains for the 2027 timetable are on sale up to 360 days ahead[3]. Every route offers seats, couchettes and sleeper cabins[1].

GWR Night Riviera Sleeper
Seats come at no extra charge with a normal ticket; a cabin is a supplement on top of the ticket, from £49 single and £59 twin[19]. Tickets for 16 March 2027 were on sale on 20 October 2026[18].

Snälltåget
Snälltåget runs night trains from Stockholm and Malmö to Berlin and, in winter, to the Swedish mountains and the Austrian Alps[24][26][27].

SJ runs night trains from Stockholm to Narvik, Duved via Åre, Umeå and Malmö, with seats, couchettes and sleeping compartments[29].
Vy (Bergen Line night train)
Vy's Oslo to Bergen night train has seats, PlusNight lie-flat seats, a 2 bed Sleeper and a 6 berth Rest compartment[32]. Vy's search says most tickets go on sale 90 days ahead, some up to 120 days[30].[30]

Intercity Notte runs 24 night connections a day from the north of Italy to the south and Sicily, with seats, couchettes and sleeping cars[35].

Routes that ended or changed
- Nightjet Vienna to Paris and Berlin to Paris. Nightjet no longer sells Vienna to Paris or Berlin to Paris[36][37]. The Paris to Berlin night train stopped in December 2025 and came back under European Sleeper on 26 March 2026[38].
- Nightjet routes to Italy in 2027. Construction work in Italy stops Stuttgart to Venice from 7 February to 9/10 July 2027 and Munich to Rome from 7 February to 4/5 May 2027; Munich to Rome then runs only to Bologna until 28/29 August[3]. The Vienna to Venice and Vienna to Rome changes are in the Nightjet table above.
